Puri Echoes with Devotion as Bahuda Jatra 2025 Unfolds with Divine Grandeur
After a restful sojourn at the Gundicha Temple, the deities embarked on their journey back to their abode at Srimandir.
The sacred city of Puri came alive with spiritual fervour as the revered Bahuda Jatra, the return journey of the Holy Trinity, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra was celebrated with majestic splendour, marking the concluding chapter of the annual Ratha Jatra.
After a restful sojourn at the Gundicha Temple, the deities embarked on their journey back to their abode at Srimandir. The Grand Road, or Bada Danda, transformed into a river of faith, with lakhs of devotees thronging both sides, their chants and cheers rising with each pull of the chariots.
Leading the divine cavalcade was Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja, followed by Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana in the centre, and finally, Lord Jagannath’s towering Nandighosha bringing up the rear. The synchrony of tradition and devotion filled the air with sacred energy.
In an extraordinary display of preparedness, over 200 platoons of police forces were deployed, bolstered by AI-driven surveillance systems, drone monitoring, and multi-level security across water, land, and air. This ensured a peaceful, well-managed Yatra while accommodating the overwhelming influx of devotees.
The pulling of the chariots began ahead of schedule, fuelled by an unmatched spiritual zeal among the devotees. The Grand Road vibrated with the sounds of conch shells, gongs, and mridangas as the Trinity approached the iconic Singha Dwara of Srimandir.
Earlier in the day, pilgrims gathered in immense numbers to witness the final rituals at Gundicha Temple. The Pahandi Bije began at noon, carried out with ceremonial precision, and the pulling of the chariots commenced around 4 PM, drawing waves of devotion and emotion.
Celebrated annually on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha, the Bahuda Yatra is not merely a physical return but a symbolic reunion of the deities with their eternal abode, a moment deeply cherished by devotees around the world.
This year, Bahuda Jatra 2025 stood as a glowing testament to Odisha’s undying devotion, where age-old traditions harmoniously embraced modern management, creating a seamless blend of faith and finesse.
