Constructed during the 1800s in the Victorian architectural style with Georgian design features, the property was intended to host foreign dignitaries and visitors of the Mayurbhanj royal family. The property was given the name “palace” upon the princely state’s merger with the Union of India, in honour of the royal family who made the area their permanent home after freedom.
The palace, which redefines the concept of a hotel, is a stunning piece of Kalinga history hidden away in Baripada. It takes four to five hours to go to the state capital.
